Sad day today
Well today is a sad day with regards my time in the UK – Theresa May has signed Article 50 and it will be delivered to the EU today and the process of the UK leaving the EU will start. With a weak opposition and a Tory party which appears to be controlled by a set of hard Brexit fanatics it seems that we will be having a rough time in the UK over the next few years and then when we exit it will not be any better (fingers crossed I’m proven wrong).
Freedom of movement, financial services passporting and Tariff free business will most likely suffer as the UK hard Brexiters are prepared to leave the EU WITHOUT a deal and this will push us onto the WTO tariff’s. I’m in a fortunate position that I can apply for a British passport and this is what I will be doing but there are a ton of EU members who have made the UK their home who will suffer unless a deal is struck quickly (if the hard Brexiters have their way this will not happen and those ‘immigrants’ will be forced to leave). Also I hope the regions of the UK who voted overwhelmingly for Brexit and receive 60% of their budget from EU handouts or trade with the EU realise that they will have to do something else to get money as that well is going to run dry.
I do hope a good deal can be reached but the government does not inspire any confidence as they seem to be headless and being controlled by the hard Brexiters (these are people who want shot of the EU at any cost even if it impacts on the livelihoods of every citizen of the UK – even the ones that voted them in). I’m sure there will be comments by those who support Brexit that I should shut up etc but I would like to say to them that they are not living with the uncertainty of how the future will look as they seem to think everything will be rosy because their leaders just say it will. I like positive thinking but burying your head in the sand an assuming all will be good is not a wise move.
Oh well here is to the future and may it be okay.
